Why the meerkat?
The meerkat is a small, slender member of the mongoose family, measuring about 24-35 cm in head-and-body length and weighing only around 0.6-0.9 kg. It has a broad head, large dark-ringed eyes, a pointed snout and a thin, tapering tail, with a light brownish coat marked by faint darker bands across the back.
Meerkats take turns standing guard: while the group forages, a sentry rises upright on a mound or bush to scan for predators and gives distinct alarm calls that warn whether danger comes from the air or the ground.
How adoption works

- 2You'll receive a confirmation by e-mail and the adoption certificate within 14 days.
- 3We'll keep sending you updates and photos of your animal.
- 4For the Patron and Benefactor tiers we'll arrange a visit and experiences with you.
The adoption is symbolic — the animal stays in the care of the zoo. It also makes a great gift: in the note at checkout, tell us who the certificate should be made out to. More information at info@zoosedlec.cz.
