Golden pheasant

Description: The male measures between 100 and 115 cm and the female between 61 and 70 cm. They weigh between 0.5 and 0.9 kg. The male is a red-gold color, and the female is brown.
Habitat: They inhabit the forests and mountainous areas of western China.
Diet: They feed mainly on plant food: shoots, berries, roots, seeds, leaves, flowers, bamboo shoots, occasionally they also eat insects or other invertebrates.
Reproduction: They lay between eight and twelve eggs, which they brood for 20-23 days.
Lifespan: 10 years
Did you know?: In Ancient China, they were popular in the imperial courts.
